On April 1, 2014 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of:

Precious metals:

• Three silver proof coins in denomination of 2 Roubles - «Asiatic Wild Ass» (catalogue number 5110-0130), «Glossy Ibis» (catalogue number 5110-0131) and «Soldatov's Sheatfish» (catalogue number 5110-0132) of the series «Red Data Book»;

Base metals:

• In denomination of 10 Roubles of the series «Towns of Martial Glory»: Nalchik.

Description of the coins of precious metals:

Silver proof coins in denomination of 2 Roubles (fine metal content 15,55 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 33,0 mm, mintage 5000 pcs of each design), have the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse: a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - a two-headed eagle with wings down, and a semicircular inscription under it «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. Inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coins «ДВА РУБЛЯ» (TWO ROUBLES) and the year of issue «2014», between them - an indication of the metal according to D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Moscow mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse sideof the coins bears:

• A relief image of Asiatic Wild Ass. An inscription along the circumference overhead on the right says – «КУЛАН» (ASIATIC WILD ASS);
• Relief images of two Glossy Ibises. An inscription along the circumference overhead on the left says – «КАРАВАЙКА» (GLOSSY IBIS);
• A relief image of Soldatov's Sheatfish. An inscription along the circumference overhead on the right says – «СОМ СОЛДАТОВА» (SOLDATOV'S SHEATFISH).

Description of the coin of base metals:

A coin is 22.0 mm in diameter, yellow in colour and has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated with each section containing different number of corrugations and alternating with smooth sections.

The obverse: in the upper part of the coin there is an inscription along the rim: «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), in the lower part - the year of issue «2014». On the left and on the right there are stylized images of a laurel tree and oak twigs respectively. In the center of the disc there is an indication of the face value of the coin «10 РУБЛЕЙ» (10 ROUBLES) in two lines. Inside the figure «0» there is a protective element in the form of the figure «10» and an inscription «РУБ» (RUB) visible by turns when changing an angle of vision. In the lower part of the disc there is a mint trademark.

The reverse side of the coin depictsa relief image of the Nalchik emblem. Inscriptions along the circumference say: «ГОРОДА ВОИНСКОЙ СЛАВЫ» (TOWNS OF MARTIAL GLORY) at the top and «НАЛЬЧИК» (NALCHIK) at the bottom.

Национальный банк Кыргызской Республики 24 декабря 2013 года представил первую монету серии «Эпоха Кыргызского каганата». Серия разработана в целях обозначения преемственности и традиций кыргызской государственности, воспитания у кыргызстанцев чувства гражданского патриотизма, широкой популяризации историко-культурного наследия народа Кыргызстана.

Важной вехой истории кыргызского народа являлись VI-VIII века, когда происходило укрепление национальной государственности Кыргызского каганата на Енисее. Данному периоду характерна консолидация кыргызских племен в Минусинской котловине, формирование Кыргызского каганата. Эти процессы диктовались сложившейся политической ситуацией в Саяно-Алтайском крае в VI-VIII века, конкурентной борьбой, вынудившей кыргызские племена объединиться против общих врагов.

В VIII веке, в эпоху правления Барсбек кагана, наступила стадия рассвета Кыргызской государственности. Енисейские кыргызы укрепились как этнос. Кыргызы распространили свое влияние на некоторые районы Алтая и Западной Монголии. Стремительный рост влияния Кыргызского государства был обеспечен тем, что сразу после падения Второго Восточно-тюркского каганата в 744 году, все вассалы тюрков признали власть Кыргызского кагана, поступив к нему на службу.

На аверсе выполнена золотом Тамга — символ кыргызского народа, который был упомянут в китайской летописи VII в. На заднем фоне размещена стилизованная карта первичной территории кыргызов, где они жили до периода Великодержавия, а четыре скачущих всадника означают расширение границ государства. В верхней части монеты имеется надпись, выполненная орхоно-енисейской рунической письменностью, которая переводится как «Кыргыз эли». В нижней части монеты указаны проба и вес металла «Ag 925/28.28 g», номинал монеты «10 COM».

Основным элементом реверса является государственный герб, размещенный в центре изображения стилизованного беркута. В верхней части монеты имеется название монеты «Улуу Кыргыз каганаты» на кыргызском языке, по кругу монеты размещен национальный орнамент, а в нижней части — указан год выпуска монеты «2013».

Монета 10 сомов из серебра 925-й пробы 999-й пробы (proof) имеет вес 28,28 г, диаметр 38,60 мм. Тираж — 2 000 шт.

Для Токелау в конце 2013 года были выпущены две монеты с изображением единорога и пегаса серии «Лунный конь» (Lunar Horse).

Аверс монет одинаковый: портрет королевы Великобритании Елизаветы II, окруженный надписями: «ELIZABETH II», «TOKELAU 2014». Под портретом выгравирован герб Токелау и указаны номинал, проба и вес металла: «ONE DOLLAR», «Five Dollars», «1oz 999 Silver».

Монета «Рождение Пегаса»
На реверсе изображен Пегас, вылетающий из облаков. На одном из вариантов монеты облака выделены синим цветом. На другой — позолотой покрыто изображение крылатого коня.

Монета «Единорог»
Реверс представляет единорога с развивающейся на ветру гривой. На цветном варианте монеты природа за единорогом выполнена тампопечатью.

Монеты отчеканены на Монетном дворе Майер (Германия).

Монеты по 5 новозеландских долларов из серебра 999-й пробы имеют вес 31,1 г, диаметр 38,61 мм. Тираж – 5 000 (Antique Finish), 50 000 (Reverse Proof), 5 000 (Proof Colored) и 2 500 (Proof Gilded) шт.

The Tokelau reverse-proof Lunar Horse coin appears to have been very successful and we recently reported on the low-mintage antique and proof versions. The coin from Australian producers, Treasures of Oz, was a clean and elegant design that’s won over plenty of fans. On the back of that success, they’ve decided to expand the range with two new pieces in exactly the same style and format.

Being issued for Tokelau means the $5 denomination is in New Zealand currency, and the obverse carries the classic Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

While they’re not all shown here yet, there will also be proof and gilded versions, the latter having some fine potential, and the former will look great if the standard horse coin is any indication. Mintages of the variants differ; the reverse-proof coins being the biggest release with 50,000 available. The coloured proof version will hit 5,000 units, and the standard proof, antique and gilded versions will top out at 2,500. The reverse proof coins should be available anytime now, with the coloured proof hitting the market in mid-January. The other three versions are minted to order so if you want them, bug your dealer to get some. We mocked up a couple of gilded ones, which we can’t show for the obvious reasons, but we thought they looked great so keep an eye out for them.

THE UNICORN

Excellent artwork here, adorned with a powerful, anatomically good looking horse, and some very well detailed plant life in the background. We really like this one.

Legends of the mystical Unicorn have existed since antiquity, speaking of a wild and extraordinary horse bearing a single spiraled horn upon its forehead.  Many different cultures tell of the unicorn, and their tales are found throughout Europe and Asia. The beautiful unicorn dances through the forest, its cloven hooves barely denting the ground.  These creatures represent the purest grace and beauty, and were said to only appear to the most virtuous people.

PEGASUS

Again, some fine-looking artwork on the reverse of the coin, that looks good in both the antique and reverse-proof finishes.

The winged horse Pegasus is a creature of power and strength.  These magnificent creatures soar through the air on massive wings shining with downy feathers.  They are said to be so light they can walk upon clouds, and so fierce they can control the weather itself, bringing mighty storms or the gentlest spring breeze. Pegasus has a wild spirit, but those who manage to befriend one will have a noble and trusted steed for life.

COLOURED PROOF

Below we have the concept artwork for the coins, so it’ll be hard to tell how well they’ll pull off the colouring, but the extent of the application and the choice of colours looks spot-on to us, especially the Pegasus.

Банк России 25 марта 2014 года выпустил памятную серебряную монету номиналом 3 рубля «Система страхования вкладов».

Аверс традиционный — рельефное изображение эмблемы Банка России — двуглавого орла с опущенными крыльями, под ним надпись полукругом «БАНК РОССИИ», также по окружности имеются надписи, разделенные точками: номинал «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» и год чеканки «2014 г.», между ними проставлены обозначение металла по Периодической системе элементов Д.И. Менделеева, проба сплава, товарный знак Московского монетного двора и масса драгоценного металла в чистоте.

На реверсе изображены рельефные элементы логотипа Агентства по страхованию вкладов и денежных знаков — банкноты и монет Банка России на фоне контурного изображения россыпи монет, вверху по окружности имеется надпись «СИСТЕМА СТРАХОВАНИЯ ВКЛАДОВ».

Монета 3 рубля из серебра 925-й пробы (proof) имеет вес 31,1 г, диаметр 39 мм. Тираж — 3000 шт.

An inscription along the circumference at the top says «СИСТЕМА СТРАХОВАНИЯ ВКЛАДОВ» (DEPOSIT INSURANCE SYSTEM). The edge of the coin is corrugated.

Национальный банк Украины 7 марта 2014 года выпустил две монеты «200-летие со дня рождения Т.Г. Шевченко» серии «Духовные сокровища Украины».

Монеты посвящены 200-летию со дня рождения гениального поэта, художника, мыслителя, внесшего неоценимый вклад в духовную сокровищницу человечества, — Тараса Григорьевича Шевченко. Талант Великого Кобзаря достиг вершин украинской и мировой культуры, сила его национального феномена излучается далеко за пределы литературы и искусства.

Аверсы одинаковые: вверху размещен малый Государственный Герб Украины, полукругом выгравирована надпись «НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ». На фоне полотенца изображено стилизованное аллегорическое олицетворение таланта художника — две музы (Поэзии и Изобразительного искусства). Внизу расположены надписи: год чеканки монеты «2014», факсимиле подписи Т. Шевченко, и соответствующий номинал: «П`ЯТДЕСЯТ ГРИВЕНЬ» или «П`ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ». На серебряной монете выгравированы строки стихотворения «Муза» («…ВНОЧІ, І ВДЕНЬ, І ВВЕЧЕРІ, І РАНО ВИТАЙ ЗО МНОЮ І УЧИ, УЧИ НЕЛОЖНИМИ УСТАМИ СКАЗАТИ ПРАВДУ.»)

Реверс серебряной монеты разделен пополам, верхняя часть выполнена зеркальной, а нижняя — рельефная, что символизирует непростую судьбу поэта. По кругу изображена серия автопортретов Т. Шевченко, иллюстрирующая разные периоды жизни художника, его талант. В центре на зеркальном фоне в четыре строки расположена надпись: «ДОЛЯ…МИ НЕ ЛУКАВИЛИ З ТОБОЮ, МИ ПРОСТО ЙШЛИ; У НАС НЕМА ЗЕРНА НЕПРАВДИ ЗА СОБОЮ.» Внизу на рельефном фоне в две строки указано имя поэта «ТАРАС ШЕВЧЕНКО». Слева указаны годы его жизни «1814», «1861».

На реверсе монеты из нейзильбера размещен портрет Т. Шевченко и надписи «СВОЮ УКРАЇНУ ЛЮБІТЬ…», имя поэта «ТАРАС ШЕВЧЕНКО» и годы его жизни «1814–1861».

Монета 50 гривен из серебра (Special NC) имеет вес 500 г, диаметр 85 мм. Тираж — 1 000 шт.
Монета 5 гривен из сплава нейзильбер (Special NC) имеет вес 16,54 г, диаметр 35 мм. Тираж — 30 000 шт.

Ilaly presents a new silver coin "Gioachino Rossini" in Europe (European Musicians) Program. The issuance of the currency is the March 17 , 2014.

Gioachino Antonio Rossini (29 February 1792& – 13 November 1868) was an Italian who wrote 39 operas as well as sacred music, chamber music, songs, and some instrumental and piano pieces. His best-known operas include the Italian comedies Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) and La Cenerentola and the French-language epics Moïse et Pharaon and Guillaume Tell. A tendency for inspired, song-like melodies is evident throughout his scores, which led to the nickname "The Italian Mozart". Until his retirement in 1829, Rossini had been the most popular opera composer in history.

Obverse bears the image of the bust Gioachino Rossini adapted from a marble sculpture by an unknown author, which is preserved in the International Music Museum of Bologna.

Reverse shows a scene in the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro, with a magpie in flight having a collar at its peak, an allegory of the opera La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie). On the right side – the notes of the opera Majestic Marciale Rossini. Designer: Uliana Pernazza.

Государственный полиграфический институт и монетный двор Италии в феврале 2014 года выпустили монету «Джоаккино Россини» в рамках монетной программы «Европа».

Джоаккино Россини (1792–1868) — выдающийся итальянский композитор, автор 39 опер, духовной и камерной музыки. Россини создал (за 20 дней) своё самое известное произведение — оперу «Севильский цирюльник» по пьесе Бомарше.

На аверсе изображен мраморный бюст Россини неизвестного автора, который сохранился в Международном музыкальном музее Болоньи, и факсимиле его подписи. По краю выгравированы надписи: «REPUBBLICA ITALIANA» и имя дизайнера «U.PERNAZZA».

Реверс представляет зала оперного театра, где пространство между балконами украшено нотным станом. В центре композиции изображена сорока в полете с венком в клюве. В верхней части монеты размещена «Еврозвезда». Внизу указан номинал, год чеканки «2014» и знак монетного двора «R».

Монета 10 евро из серебра 925-й пробы имеет вес 22 г, диаметр 34 мм. Тираж — 5000 шт. Цена — около 60 евро.

The 2014 coin from the popular annual Australian Antarctic Territory Series features the Wandering Albatross. It is the eleventh coin in the Antarctic Territory series.

One of the world’s most fascinating sea birds, the albatross has the largest wingspan of any living bird, measuring up to 3.5 metres, which allows it to fly whilst hardly having to flap its wings. This impressive bird can travel vast distances, covering several thousand kilometres in just one week, and will fly further in their lifetime than any other bird on Earth.

The Wandering Albatross is also one of the longest living birds in the world. Known to live to the age of 50 years or more, the albatross mates for life and breeds every two years, laying just one egg at a time, with both the male and the female taking turns to tend to the nest.

The coin’s coloured reverse depicts a Wandering Albatross flying past an iceberg in the Southern Ocean within an outline of Antarctica. As well as the inscription 2014 WANDERING ALBATROSS, the design also includes the words ‘Australian Antarctic Territory’ and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the monetary denomination are depicted on the coin’s obverse.
