The United States Mint has announced the design selections for the 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters. The five coins to be issued in the coming year will feature Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, Arches National Park in Utah, Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, and Everglades National Park in Florida. These will represent the 21st to 25th overall releases within the program.
The America the Beautiful Quarters program was launched in 2010 and has featured five different coins per year, with reverse designs representing national parks or sites. The series is scheduled to run through 2021 with a total of 56 different coins featuring a site for each state, U.S. territory, and the District of Columbia. The sites are presented in the order federally designated.
The reverse design of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Quarter includes a depiction of a historic log cabin found within the park. A segment of lush green forest and a hawk circling above are also included. Inscriptions read «Great Smoky Mountains», «Tennessee», «E Pluribus Unum» and «2014». The reverse was designed by Chris Costello and engraved by Renata Gordon.
The Shenandoah National Park Quarter features a hiker taking in the view from the Little Stony Man summit. The inscriptions include «Shenandoah», «Virginia», «E Pluribum Unum», and «2014». This was designed and engraved by Phebe Hemphill.
The reverse of the Arches National Park Quarter depicts Delicate Arch, a 65 foot free standing natural arch, as designed by Donna Weaver and engraved by Charles L. Vickers. The La Sal Mountains are also visible in the background. Inscriptions around the scene include «Arches», «Utah», «E Pluribum Unum», and «2014».
The Great Sand Dunes National Park Quarter features a depiction of a father and son playing in the sane next to the creek bed. The background includes the distinctive mountains and sand dunes of the park. Inscriptions read «Great Sand Dunes», «Colorado», «E Pluribus Unum», and the date «2014». The reverse was designed and engraved by Don Everhart.
The fifth and final coin released for the coming year will be the Everglades National Park Quarter, which was designed by Joel Iskowitz and engraved by Joseph Menna. The design features an anhinga with outstretched wings on a willow tree with a roseate spoonbill visible in the midground. Inscriptions read «Everglades», «Florida», «E Pluribus Unum», and «2014».
The obverse of all five coins will feature the 1932 portrait of George Washington designed by John Flanagan. The obverse inscriptions include «United States of America», «Liberty», «In God We Trust», and «Quarter Dollar».
The 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters will be issued for general circulation as well as available within numismatic products offered by the United States Mint. The same designs will also appear on five ounce silver coins issued in both bullion and numismatic formats. Release dates for the quarters and silver coins are not yet available.
The United States Mint launched the America the Beautiful Quarters Program in 2010. The 12-year initiative includes 56 quarters featuring reverse designs depicting some of our most cherished national parks and other national sites. The United States Mint will issue five new quarter designs per year, with one final design in 2021.

Крепость Элваш — основана королем Санчо Вторым и возводилась на более древнем фундаменте, по всей видимости, принадлежавшем мавританской крепости. Построена в форме звезды, неразрывно связана с историей Португалии. Именно благодаря этой цитадели в XVII веке португальцы смогли отстоять свою независимость. Крепость Элваш в 2012 году была объявлена ЮНЕСКО памятником Всемирного наследия.
На аверсе изображены ворота форта Граса (Graça Fort), являющимся одной из опорой цитадели. Сверху вдоль буртика указано название государства-эмитента «REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA», а также в левой верхней части изображён герб Португальской республики. Снизу указан номинал монеты «2,5 EURO».

Portugal issued new coin "The Elvas" under "UNESCO World Heritage Sites" series.
The Elvas Fortifications were classified as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in June 2012. The group of fortifications at Elvas, the foundation of which dates back to the reign of Sancho II of Portugal, is the largest land-based star fort in the world, with a perimeter of between 8 and 10 km in an area of 300 ha. The classified complex includes all of the city’s fortifications, along with the two forts — Santa Luzia from the 17th century and Graça from the 18th century, three smaller forts from the 19th century, three medieval walls and a 17th century wall, and the Amoreira Aqueduct.
The obverse of the coin, designed by Nuno Caetano, shows the monument of the Graça Fort, surrounded by the walls of the fortifications, the Portuguese coat of arms, the words «REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA» (Portuguese Republic) and its face value; on the reverse can be seen a map of the group of fortifications, along with the UNESCO designation and the «World Heritage» logo. On the top of the rim is the legend «FORTIFICAÇÕES DE ELVAS» (Elvas fortifications) and the year 2013 is at the bottom.
By issuing this coin, with a face value of 2,50 Euro in silver with a proof finishing, packaged in a case with a guarantee certificate and an issue limit of 2500 copies, the INCM is continuing with the series dedicated to UNESCO world heritage sites in Portugal.

Национальный банк Республики Беларусь 20 декабря 2013 года выпустил новые монеты cерии »История и культура Беларуси».
Аверсы имеют одинаковые элементы: рельефное изображение Государственного герба Республики Беларусь. По внешнему кругу расположены надписи: «РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ», год чеканки, проба сплава (на серебряной монете) и художественный элемент (на медно-никелевой), и номинал «20 РУБЛЁЎ" (на серебряной) и «1 РУБЕЛЬ» (на медно-никелевой).
Монета «Слуцкие пояса. Ткачество»
В центре аверса изображен фрагмент двухстороннего четырехлицевого пояса, изготовленного на Слуцкой мануфактуре (1760/62–1776) и находящегося в коллекции Музея древнебелорусской культуры. На серебряной монете фрагмент пояса выполнен методом тампопечати.
Реверс содержит надпись: «СЛУЦКІЯ ПАЯСЫ. ТКАЦТВА» и представляет фигуру купца, символизирующего торговые связи города Слуцка. Рядом выполнена декоративная композиция из герба города Слуцка, ткача за станком, изготавливающего традиционные тканые пояса, и изображения города (как символа развитого центра мануфактурного производства).
Монета «Слуцкие пояса. Радзивиллы»
В центре аверса изображен фрагмент одностороннего литого пояса, изготовленного на Слуцкой мануфактуре (1780–1807) и находящегося в коллекции Национального музея истории и культуры Беларуси. На серебряной монете фрагмент пояса выполнен методом тампопечати.
На реверсе выгравирована надпись «СЛУЦКІЯ ПАЯСЫ. РАДЗІВІЛЫ» и изображен князь Михаил Казимир Радзивилл. На заднем плане расположена декоративная композиция на основе родового герба Радзивиллов, изображение Слуцкой брамы в городе Несвиже (как элемента архитектурного ансамбля резиденции Радзивиллов) и задрапированного слуцкого пояса.
Монета 20 рублей из серебра 925-й пробы (proof) имеет вес 33,62 г, диаметр 50 мм. Тираж — 7000 шт.
Монета 1 рубль из медно-никелевого сплава (proof-like) имеет вес 19,50 г, диаметр 37 мм. Тираж — 7000 шт.

The National Bank of Belarus on December 20th, 2013 puts into circulation new silver and CuNi commemorative coins "The Belts of Slutsk. Weaving" and "The Belts of Slutsk. The Radziwills" under The Belts of Slutsk coin series.
Slutsk belts — this is one of the assets of my country. Poets sang of its beauty (Adam Mickiewicz and Maxim Bogdanovich), a surprising charm belts crazy many collectors to this day. In this post I will explain this miracle of Belarus.
The name of the belts made of town of Slutsk — in this city began to make the belt in the 18th century. Belts themselves were made up to 4 meters in length and 40–45 centimeters in width. Such decoration could afford only a rich man, because is woven of gold and silver threads and decorated with gold fringe. Price zone reaches up to 1,000 zlotys (the annual income of a simple Polish officer) or 50 ducats. At times one had to be from 400 to 800 grams of gold!
Face value of the silver coin is 20 rubles, purity 925, weight 33.62 g, diameter 50 mm, proof quality. Mintage 7.000 pcs.
Face value of the CuNi coin is 1 ruble, weight 19.50 g, diameter 37 mm, proof-like quality. Mintage 7.000 pcs.

Банк Ботсваны представил новый тип обиходный монет. За исключением некоторых деталей, изображение на монетах осталось прежним, но изменились их технические характеристики.
5 тхебе — вместо стали, плакированной медью, монета отчеканена из стали, плакированной никелем, диаметр 18 мм вместо 16,90 мм.
10, 25 и 50 тхебе также стали крупнее — 20, 22 и 24 мм соответственно.
1 пула стала больше — 26 мм вместо 23,50 мм. Изображение на реверсе дополнилось элементами ландшафта.
2 пулы — вместо семиугольной монеты из стали, плакированной латунно-никелевым сплавом, теперь можно увидеть круглую биметаллическую монету.
5 пул также стали крупнее — 28 мм, вместо 23,40 мм.

Coin is issued for smaller currency denominations as these are more convenient for such transactions as well as longer lasting. Coin currently in circulation includes P5, P2, P1, 50t, 25t, 10t, and 5t.
In line with the international norms, where currency is reviewed and updated periodically to take account of latest technology trends and security features, the Bank has done a comprehensive review of Botswana coin and a new family of coin will be introduced in the first quarter of 2014.

В 2014 год будет выпущена восьмая монета серии «Первая Леди» в честь супруги 29, 30, 31 и 32 президентов Соединенных Штатов Америки. Комиссия изобразительных искусств (CFA) в конце 2013 года рассмотрели варианты дизайна монет «Флоренс Гардинг», «Грейс Кулидж», «Лу Генри Гувер» и «Элеонора Рузвельт».
Монетный двор США предоставили от трех до семи различных эскизов аверса и реверса каждой монеты. Кроме CFA, данные эскизы прокомментировал Консультативный комитет граждан по чеканке монет (Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, CCAC). Мнения были различны.
Для монеты «Флоренс Гардинг» CFA рекомендовала представленные ниже варианты аверса и реерса, отметив хорошее сочетание дизайна сторон и удачную поддержку темы женского избирательного права.
CCAC для монеты «Флоренс Гардинг» предложил вообще другие варианты сторон, представленные ниже.
CFA для монеты «Грейс Кулидж» рекомендует вариант № 3 для лицевой стороны Грейс Кулидж и также № 3 для реверс, предложив только удалить буквы "USA» (которые дублируют язык жестов). И советовали тщательнее изучить фасад Белого дома.
CCAC для аверса также выбрал портрет, но немного другой. Мнения по поводу реверса сошлись с рекомендацией перенести буквы «USA» в другое место.
Для третьей золотой монеты 2014 года «Лу Генри Гувер» CFA рекомендует представленные ниже дизайны. Коммисия отметиа, что изображение радио будет более узнаваемым, чем микрофонов, которые изображены на других эскизах.
CCAC предложил другой вариант аверса, согласившись с выбранные реверсом (вариант на изображении внизу).
CFA для монеты «Элеонора Рузвельт» рекомендуется портрет № 4, как самый узнаваемый. Для реверса выбран вариант № 6, отмечает ее заслугу в государственной службе. Коммисия предложила предполагают уменьшить размер стола размера стола, чтобы улучшить баланс композиции.
CCAC согласился с выбранные аверсом, порекомендовав для реверса другой вариант.

The First Spouse Gold Coin Program will enter its eighth year in 2014, with coins issued to honor the spouses of the 29th to 32nd Presidents of the United States of America. The Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) recently reviewed design candidates for the coins which will honor Florence Harding, Grace Coolidge, Lou Hoover, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
The United States Mint had provided from three to seven different candidates for the obverse and reverse designs of each coin. The CFA reviewed the proposed designs at a meeting held on November 21 and provided their recommendations and comments. The same candidates were also reviewed by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) on November 22.
For the Florence Harding First Spouse Gold Coin, the CFA had recommended alternative #3 for the obverse and alternative #4 for the reverse. They found this to be an appropriate pairing and expressed support for the theme of women's suffrage for the reverse design.
The CCAC had offered different recommendations for both the obverse and reverse. The group preferred obverse alternative #2 and reverse alternative #6.
The CFA recommended alternative #3 for the obverse of the Grace Coolidge First Spouse Gold Coin, consistent with their preference for profiles. For the reverse, they recommended alternative #3 with a suggestion to remove the letters "USA" from the hands in order to allow the sign language depiction of the letters to be the predominant feature of the design. They also suggested a careful study of the perspective and proportions of the White House portico depicted in the background.
The CCAC had recommended alternative #3 for the obverse design. They shared the CFA's recommendation of alternative #3 for the reverse design, but suggested the letters "USA" should be moved from the hands and placed elsewhere on the design.
For the Lou Hoover First Spouse Gold Coin, the CFA recommended obverse alternative #2 and reverse alternative #4. They commented that the depiction of the radio would be more recognizable than the microphones shown in other alternatives.
The CCAC had offered their recommendation for obverse alternative #4. For the reverse, they offered the same recommendation as the CFA for alternative #4.
The CFA recommended obverse alternative #4 for the Eleanor Roosevelt First Spouse Gold Coin as the most recognizable portrait. For the reverse, they recommended alternative #6 which recognizes the magnitude of her public service. They did suggest reducing the size of the desk in the foreground to improve the balance of the composition.
The CCAC had also recommended obverse alternative #4, however for the reverse they recommended alternative #3.

Монетный двор Польши в ноябре 2013 и в январе 2014 года выпустил монеты серии «Друзья человека — собаки», посвященные Йоркширских терьеру и Немецкой овчарке соответственно.
Издавна собака играла роль верного спутника человека. Она считается самым преданным четвероногим другом, завоевавшим сердца многих людей, поэтому именно собаки стали темой монет данной коллекции.
На аверсе, одинаковом для все серии, в центральной части расположен профильный портрет Ее Величества королевы Елизаветы II. Ниже выгравированы: проба серебра «Ag 999» и знак Монетного двора Польши «m/w». Вдоль края расположены надписи: «ELIZABETH II», «NIUE ISLAND», «1 DOLLAR», «2014».
Монета «Йоркширский терьер»
В центральной части монеты – многоцветное изображение Йорка. На фоне – рельефнaя сцена с участием Йоркширского терьера и декоративные мотивы. По окружности – название породы на английском языке.
На реверсе находится многоцветное изображение немецкой овчарки. Фон – рельефное изображение сцены с участием немецкой овчарки в естественной среде. Слева полукругом выгравированы надписи «OWCZAREK NIEMIECKI» и «GERMAN SHEPHERD» (название породы на польском и английском языках). Украшение — цифровая печать.
Монеты 1 новозеландский доллар из серебра 999-й пробы имеют вес 17,50 г, диаметр 38,61 мм. Тираж каждой — 1500 шт.
