Центральный банк Армении 14 января 2013 года выпустил в обращение золотую памятную монету, посвященную 125-летию великого армянского драматического актера мирового масштаба Ваграма Папазяна.

На аверсе изображены театральные маски, под которыми на фоне театрального занавеса выгравирован номинал «10 000 ДРАМОВ». Вдоль края расположены надписи на армянском языке «АЙАСТАНИ АНРАПЕТУТЯН КЕНТРОНАКАН БАНК».

Реверс украшен портретом Папазяна, внизу – даты «1888» и «1968», а справа и слева по контуру – надпись «ВАГРАМ ПАПЗЯН».

Автор дизайна монет является Эдуард Кургинян. Все монеты отчеканены на Королевском Монетном дворе Нидерландов.

Монета 10 000 драм из золота 900-й пробы (proof) имеет вес 8,6 г, диаметр 22 мм. Тираж — 1000 шт.

This gold collector coin issued by the Central Bank of Armenia is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of birth of Vahram Papazyan. Vahram Kamer Papazyan (born 18.06.1888 in Constantinople, died 05.06.1968 in Leningrad) is a prominent Armenian dramatic actor. Papazyan acquired theatrical practice in Paris associating mostly with the masters of Italian stage. His premier performance where he acted as Othello (W. Shakespeare’s “Othello”) was in 1908 at the Armenian theatre in Constantinople. In 1922-1927 he was an actor of the First State Theater of Armenia and Armenian troupes in Tiflis and Baku.

Papazyan performed in Leningrad, Riga, Tallinn, Kaunas, Paris, and starting from 1954 settled as an actor at the Yerevan Sundukyan Theater.Among Papazyan’s best roles are Othello, Lear, Hamlet (W. Shakespeare’s “Othello”, “King Lear”, “Hamlet”), Arbenin (M. Lermontov’s “Masquerade”), Protasov (L. Tolstoy’s “Dead Body Alive”), McGregor (W. Saroyan’s “My Heart’s in the Highlands”). Papazyan built up an exceptional theatrical character, with stressed spontaneity, harmonized sense of element and measure, unpredictable nature and ultimate persuasion.Designed by Eduard Kurghinyan. Minted in the Royal Dutch Mint.

To mark the 60th Anniversary of Enforcement of the Local Autonomy Law, we launched "Japan 47 Prefectures Coin Program" in 2008. In this program, we will have issued silver coins and bi-color clad coins of 47 prefectures in Japan until 2016. Obverse carries each prefecture's own design in color and reverse design is all the same except the inscription of the issue year.

Yamanashi Coin
Obverse design: Fujisan, Yamanashi Maglev Test Line and grapes

Mt. Fuji: Fujisan, also known as Mt. Fuji, is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776m. Mt. Fuji has been elevated to the status of a divinity as a religious object through the ages and also has been a resource of various art works in Japan. As a symbol of Japan, Mt. Fuji was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in June 2013 because of its great historical and cultural values.

Yamanashi Mag-lev Test Line: The only test line of the magnetically-levitated (Maglev) train in Japan. Constructed at the eastern part of Yamanashi prefecture, and the test run started in 1997.

Grapes: Kōshu Grape is said to be a Japanese indigenous grape with 1,300 years history, and has been cultivated in Katsunuma area in Yamanashi. It is now widely cultivated in Yamanashi prefecture as eating or wine grapes. The harvest season is from the middle of September to late October.

Kagoshima Coin
Obverse design: Jōmonsugi Cedar Tree, Mt. Nagatadake, and Yakushima Rhododendron in Yakushima Island

Jōmonsugi Cedar Tree: Jōmonsugi Cedar Tree is known as the oldest Yakusugi cryptomeria tree with the height of 25.3m and is estimated to be between 2,170 years old and 7,200 years old. The tree’s name is said to come from the Jōmon period of Japanese prehistory because it is a survivor of the Jōmon period dating back to about 16,500 years ago.

Mt. Nagatadake: One of the high mountains called Okudake centrally-located in Yakushima Island. The height above sea level is 1,886m. Many granite rocks are exposed by erosion around the top of the mountain, and it formed an unique landscape with the mountain ridge like a folding screen.

Yakushima Rhododendron: An evergreen low tree with the height of 2 to 3 m living in the area over 1,200 m above sea level. One of the indigenous species of Yakushima Island. 5 to12 blossoms of sanguine or pink color bloom on every tip of the branches from late May to early June every year.

Mt. Sakurajima: Mt. Sakurajima is a volcanic island with about 12 km from east to west and about 10 km from north to south in Kinkowan Bay. It used to be a literally island, but after the eruption in 1914, it connected with the peninsula. Mt. Sakurajima is an active volcano and the fuming Mt. Sakurajima is difinitely one of the most famous landscape of Kagoshima prefecture.

Королевский монетный двор Великобритании в декабре 2013 года представил новый дизайн монет 1 фунт стерлингов, посвященных растотельным эмблемам Шотландии и Северной Ирландии.

Дизайнером реверса этих монет стал Тимоти Ноуд (Timothy Noad).

Аверс – традиционный: портрет Ее Величества королевы Великобритании Елизаветы II работы Яна Бродли (Ian Rank-Broadley). Вокруг портрета выгравированы надписи: «ELIZABETH • II • D • G», «REG • F • D • 2014». Гурт без надписей.

Реверс монеты Северной Ирландии несет изображения клевера-трилистника и цветок льна. Внизу также обозначен номинал «ONE POUND». На гурте отчеканен девиз «DECUS ET TUTAMEN» (с лат. »Украшение и защита»). Эта надпись впервые появилась на монетах во времена правления Карла II.

На реверсе монеты Шотландии выгравированы изображения чертополоха и колокольчика. Хотя растение, обычно ассоциируемое с Шотландией — чертополох, национальным цветком страны является голубой колокольчик. Внизу указан номинал «ONE POUND». На гурте отчеканен девиз шотландского рыцарского Ордена Чертополоха, а также королевский шотландский девиз, исторически используемый королевством Шотландии на королевском гербе: «NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT» (лат. «Никто не тронет меня безнаказанным»).

Монетный двор Норвегии для Острова Фиджи в декабре 2013 года представил запоминающуюся монету «Год Лошади», отличающуюся оригинальным дизайном. В центре монеты с помощью техники филиграни (тонкой крученой серебряной проволокой) создан образ лошади — символа 2014 года по восточному календарю.

На аверсе вокруг центрального изображения выгравированы головы пяти лошадей разных пород. Вверху имеется надпись «THE YEAR OF THE HORSE» (Год Лошади).

This is the fourth annual release struck in the eye-catching and innovative Filigree series of Chinese Lunar silver coins. Kicking off in 2011 with the Year of the Rabbit, this increasingly popular series features state of the art Filigree craftsmanship set within a Proof quality coin.

The reverse design features the filigree design of a coiled horse head in the centre, with a silver ring struck to the highest proof quality.
