Монетный двор Польши для Острова Ниуэ в феврале 2014 года представил серебряную монету серии «Символы счастья» — «Свинка».

Свинка считается животным, приносящим счастье и удачу. В древнем Египте она символизировала плодородность, изобилие и урожай.

На аверсе расположена прозрачная капсула с серебряным элементом, покрытым 24-каратным золотом. Выше – профильный портрет Ее Величества Королевы Елизаветы II. Справа – изображение розовой свинки-копилки. На фоне – стилизованная поверхность. Вдоль края расположены надписи: «ELIZABETH II», «NIUE ISLAND», «1 DOLLAR», «2014».

На реверсе изображена розовая свинка-копилка. Справа – капсула с серебряным филигранным элементом, покрытым 24-каратным золотом. На фоне – стилизованная поверхность и декоративные мотивы в виде монет – четырехлистного клевера – это анонс следующей темы в серии. По кайме – надпись «GOOD LUCK» (Удачи).

The Mint of Poland is jubilant to announce the release of the spellbinding “Piggy” coin – a symbol of luck enchanted in a silver coin blank, which from today could be your most cherished talisman.

The piggy is considered to be an animal which brings good luck and wealth. In Ancient Egypt it was a symbol of fertility, abundance and good harvest.

Reverse: On the left side of the coin – an image of a pink piggy bank. On the right – a capsule containing a 24-carat gold-plated filigree insert. In the background – a stylized surface emblazoned with decorative motifs in the form of four-leaf clover coins announcing the next theme in the series. Along the rim – an inscription: GOOD LUCK.

Королевский монетный двор Австралии в феврале 2014 года отчеканил две монеты новой серии «Яркие жуки».

На аверсе отчеканен портрет королевы Великобритании Елизаветы II работы Иена Рэнк-Бродли (Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS). Вокруг выгравированы надписи: «ELIZABETH II», название страны и год чеканки монеты «AUSTRALIA 2014».

Реверс одной монеты украшен цветным изображением бабочки Парусник Улисс. В центре в две строки указан номинал монеты «1 DOLLAR».

Реверс другой монеты несет цветное изображение зеленой падольной мухи. В нижней части показаны ее личинки. В центре в две строки указан номинал монеты «1 DOLLAR».

Во время Первой мировой войны было обнаружено неожиданное свойство личинок падальных мух, поселяющихся в гноящихся ранах. Выяснилось, что личинки падальных мух не только удаляют разлагающиеся ткани и мелкие осколки костей, но и своими выделениями препятствуют размножению патогенных бактерий. Они выделяют аллантоин — вещество, способствующее заживлению ран. Однако мухи, взятые из природной обстановки, могут занести в раны палочки столбняка или бациллы гангрены. Поэтому для клинического лечения трудно заживающих ран используют выведенные в лабораториях личинки.

Национальный банк Украины 7 февраля 2014 года выпустил монету «70-летие освобождения Никополя от фашистских захватчиков», посвященную освобождению города Никополя Днепропетровской области от фашистских захватчиков, добытого в результате наступательной Никопольско-Криворожской операции войсками 3-го и 4-го Украинских фронтов 8 февраля 1944.

На аверсе вверху размещен малый Государственный герб Украины. В три строки выгравирована надпись «НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ». В центре размещена динамическая композиция с изображением наступательной операции с участием танковых войск. Внизу указан номинал «П`ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ», год чеканки монеты «2014» и логотип Монетного двора Национального банка Украины.

На реверсе изображена следующая композиция: звезда из ленты, в центре которой находится надпись в две строки «70 РОКІВ», лавровая ветвь и надписи «ВИЗВОЛЕННЯ НІКОПОЛЯ ВІД ФАШИСТСЬКИХ ЗАГАРБНИКІВ» и «1944».

February 7, 2014, National Bank of Ukraine issued collector coin dedicated to the 70th anniversary of liberation of the city of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, from the fascist invaders on February 8, 1944, as a result of the Nikopol-Krivoi Rog offensive executed by troops of the 3rd and 4th Ukrainian Fronts.

On the obverse there are: above — the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); in the centre — the dynamic composition representing the offensive with participation of the tank units; below — the coin face value П`ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (five hryvnias) with the coin issue year indication 2014 and the mark of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint thereunder.

On the reverse against the mirror-finished background there is depicted the composition: a ribbon-formed star with the inscription 70/років (70/years) and a laurel branch; also there are the circumscription ВИЗВОЛЕННЯ НІКОПОЛЯ ВІД ФАШИСТСЬКИХ ЗАГАРБНИКІВ (Liberation of Nikopol from the fascist invaders) and the legend 1944 (below).

Монетный двор Австрии 19 февраля 2014 года по случаю Дня Святого Валентина выпустил новую золотую монету «Юдифь II» серии «Густав Климт и его женщины» (Klimt and his Women) с изображением известные полотна основоположника модерна в австрийской живописи.

Густав Климт (Gustav Klimt; 1862–1918) — широко известный австрийский художник, основоположник модерна в австрийской живописи. Главным предметом его живописи было женское тело, и большинство его работ отличает откровенный эротизм.

На аверсе изображен фрагмент картины «Голая правда» (Nuda Veritas), которая хранится в Австрийской национальной библиотеке, и надписи: «REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH», номинал «50 EURO» и год эмиссии «2014».

Реверсе представляет фрагмент картины «Юдифь II» из Галереи современного искусства в Венеции.

Gustav Klimt did not just paint women, he revolutionised the world’s image of them. The third coin in our incomparable Klimt and his Women series, Judith II, in which the saviour of the Israelites is portrayed as a chilling femme fatale, shows this to magnificent effect. Coin issued on the occasion of Valentine's Day.

Painted in 1909, the life-size portrait shows a gaunt and bushy-haired Judith looking to her right as she clutches the severed head of Holoferenes, an Assyrian general who was threatening to destroy her home city of Bethulia. Klimt’s customary swirling art nouveau ornamentation features on this side of the coin as well as on its obverse, which is graced with Nuda Veritasfrom Klimt’s golden phase. Painted in 1889, the long-haired beauty holding a mirror shows artistic truth without compromise and is a perfect example of Klimt's artistic vision. This was a vision that led the painter to co-found the Vienna Secession, the artistic movement that rejected the conservatism of the early 20^th-century Viennese art world.
